Friday, February 12, 2021

WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (February 12, 2021) — MassBay Community College is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year with monthly virtual events, a new 60th anniversary logo, and a newly released video.

Beginning in March and continuing until fall of 2021, each month’s virtual event will highlight a specific decade of MassBay’s history through the years (1961–present) as well as that decade’s world news, popular culture, trends and information, etc. These events are open to the public and will involve current students, faculty, alumni, and staff, as well as the interested local community. Events will include interactive trivia games, paint nights, and more.

“For six decades our remarkable institution has provided people with the training, skills, and credentials that has reinforced the economy, developed the workforce of Massachusetts, and changed lives for the better,” said MassBay President David Podell. “Our greatest accomplishments are the men and women, past and present, who have chosen to study at MassBay and have made significant contributions to MetroWest and Greater Boston. We welcome everyone to join us as we celebrate our six decades of academic excellence.”

MassBay Community College opened its doors in 1961 in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. In 1967, the College moved to Watertown before permanently settling into its current Wellesley Hills property in 1973 at the site of the former Elizabeth Seton High School. MassBay currently operates on three campuses—Ashland, Framingham, and Wellesley Hills. MassBay has remained committed to these communities by preparing students for the jobs of the future in in-demand fields such as health sciences, early education, and human services.
