Hunger should never be an obstacle to success. That's why MassBay’s Student Nourishment & Care Committee (SNACC) has partnered with the Greater Boston Food Bank, Food for Free, and Daniel’s Table to help support members of our community who do not have enough to eat.
MassBay Student Food Scholarship Application
As part of the continued efforts of Massbay's SNACC (Student Nourishment & Care) Committee, we are pleased to offer a Grocery Delivery Scholarship to help support our students who are experiencing food insecurity for the Fall 2020 Semetser. Due to the transitoin to online and remote learning, the SNACC Committee has partnered with Imperfect Foods to provide something convenient, safe and nutritious, delivered right to your door. Selection for this food scholarship will prioritize students who are food insecure and/or need additional financial assistance. Apply now! Applications must be completed by Tuesday, September 15th to be considered.
What is it?
Selected students will receive a free, recurring delivery of fresh produce, fruits, pantry items, and dairy directly to their door. Food will be delivered by Imperfect Foods; a grocery subscription company with a mission to reduce food-waste.
What is Imperfect Foods?
Imperfect Foods purchases pefectly-nurtitious foods with an imperfect-cosmetic-appearance and delivers them to customers at a discounted rate. Since 2005, their operations have saved over 139 million pounds of food waste. By purchasing this food directly from farms, they are able to offer up to a 30% discount to their customers.
How does it work?
After a student is selected for the Food Scholarship, they will be invited to create an account with Imperfect Foods that MassBay will pay for. Each week, students will be able to customize their order based on their changing needs for the week. After receiving the order, Imperfect foods will deliver their items on a SET delivery day outside of a students’ home. They will provide proper packaging to ensure that items stay cold for as long as needed. With text-message reminders and updates, and flexible delivery methods, students living in a variety of situations should be able to receive their deliveries with ease and confidence.
