How to Order Textbooks

When should I order my textbooks?

Classes begin Tuesday, September 8, 2020, students should start to order their textbooks as soon possible.  Please allow for extra time for shipping, as students cannot use curbside pick-up for textbooks.

How do I order my textbooks on the MassBay Bookstore Website?

To look up your specific books, you will need to enter your course information, which is located in the Student Center of your BayNavigator Account. Look it up and make a list of the following information for all courses before you go to the MassBay Bookstore Website to order.

BayNavigator > Student Center > “other academic” drop down — Click “Class Schedule” > click the section number for each class.  It will bring you to the following screen:

You will need the following information for each course:

  • Department Code (ES),
  • Course Subject Number (150)
  • Class Section Number (062

Based on the class location (Wellesley) please visit the following websites.

For “Online” and “Wellesley” visit www.massbayshop.com.

 

For “Ashland” and “Framingham” visit www.massbayframinghamshop.com.

When arriving to the bookstore website click the Find Courses button and then enter the Department Code, Course Subject Number and Class Section Number.

Faculty members are continuing to submit required textbooks, for each class.  Please check the website regularly for updates.

Does MassBay offer assistance to cover purchasing textbooks and/or shipping costs?

  • TEXTBOOK VOUCHERS
    Students who have an excess of Federal Financial Aid may use the funds towards textbooks at the MassBay Book Store.  If you have previously completed the Title IV Authorization Form, you will automatically continue to receive a voucher as long as there are excess funds available.  If you have not previously submitted the form, you can now log into Bay Navigator.

    BayNavigator > Student Accounts Quick Links > click on Book Voucher_Waiver Permission > Grant Permission > review the Title IV Agreement > click Next > Check the box indicating that you have read the agreement > click Submit.

    Watch your MassBay email starting August 24th for an email from Student Accounts regarding your voucher. If you have additional questions about the textbook voucher process please contact, Student Accounts at studentaccounts@massbay.edu.
  • CARES ACT EMERGENCY GRANT
    If you have experienced additional expenses directly related to the disruption of MassBay campus operations, you may be eligible for a CARES Act Emergency Grant. Students must have filed a FAFSA and be Title IV eligible. You can visit www.massbay.edu/cares for CARES Act information and the application.  If you have additional questions about the CARES Act Grant, please contact caresgrant@massbay.edu.
  • SGA TEXTBOOK FUND
    The Student Government Association established the SGA Textbook Fund to assist students in covering the costs of textbooks. For the Fall 2020 semester, SGA will open the Textbook Fund Application on August 25, 2020.  Funds are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.

All students are notified by Friday, September 11, 2020 if they have been awarded from the SGA Textbook Fund.  If you have additional questions about the SGA Textbook Fund please contact Katie Cronmiller at mcronmiller@massbay.edu 

What if my course is using Open Educational Resources (OERs)?
Open Educational Resources (OERs) are free or low-cost materials for teaching or learning that are in the public domain or are licensed to be used by professors and students. If your course uses an OER textbook, you will see a note on the course listing indicating that the course uses OERs. Please contact your instructor for more information about how to access these resources.  

 

Due to COVID-19, the physical locations of the MassBay Community College Bookstores remain closed. Textbook materials for Fall 2020 courses can be purchased or rented online and shipped to your home. Classes begin Tuesday, September 8, 2020, so be sure to start the process soon!

What formats are available?
Follett bookstores offer options to buy new or used and rent all titles . Some books may also be available digitally. If you do not find the exact format you are looking for, remember to check other textbook sellers.

How do I contact the bookstore?

How can I pay for my books and shipping?
Follett accepts Visa, MC, Discover, American Express, PayPal, PayPal Credit or Financial Aid during the checkout process. Look for an email in August offering supports and resources that may assist you in paying for books and shipping costs.

Is there an option to purchase my book in the store, or for curbside pickup?
Unfortunately, shipping is the only option at this time.

Items are shipped via UPS.

What is the Return Policy?
Returns will be accepted by mail only for one week from the first day of classes. A few additional days will be allowed for return shipping. All refunds or exchanges require a valid receipt or packing slip. Shipping and handling fees are not refundable. Course Materials purchased after the first week of classes must be returned within 7 business days of purchase for a full refund. Course Materials purchased during the last week of classes or final exams are not refundable. Please review the full refund policy for additional information.

We offer a wide variety of used textbooks at a 25% savings off the new book price. We also offer a book buyback program throughout the year where students can sell their unwanted textbooks for cash (market prices apply).

You'll also find a wide range of merchandise, including MassBay sweatshirts, notebooks, pens, supplies, and even snacks.
