Congratulations & Welcome to MassBay Community College! 

The fall semester began on September 6, 2022, therefore, will not be offering new student orientations again until December for the spring 2023 semester.

However, we do have an online orientation course thst you can complete to fulfill the SOAR Requirement.  Please see the steps and resources below to complete your fall 2022 enrollment process.

 

As a reminder, all students accessing campus must be in compliance with the MassBay COVID Vaccination Policy. Therefore, if you are coming to campus for orientation (and do not have a previously approved accommodation) you MUST bring proof of COVID-19 vaccination AND a form of photo ID with you in order to access the building and attend the Orientation event.

Admitted into a degree or certificate program

  1. Complete the Admissions Application Process
  2. Fulfill the Math & English Placement Requirement
  3. Set-up your MassBay Technology Accounts: Once you have completed your admissions paperwork, you should receive an email to your personal email address from our Office of Information Technology (helpdesk@massbay.edu) with your credentials and instructions for activating your account in OneLogin.   4. Apply for Financial Aid (if applicable) Need Help with your FAFSA application? Text “MassBay” to 857-309-2942 to our uAspire partners for help over text, zoom, or phone call!

Once you’ve completed steps 1-4, you’re ready to SOAR (Orientation)!

 COMPLETE LAUNCH POINT & REVIEW IMPORTANT RESOURCES

To fulfill your SOAR requirement, please complete Launch Point — an online orientation course! This short course will give you an introduction to MassBay services, offices, resources, and provide next steps that will ensure your success this semester! 

  • Click HERE to access the course!
  • Once you complete the course, please email soar@massbay.edu with your studenty ID# and the certificate of completion (or a screen shot of it).  This will remove SOAR from your To Do List.

Review Important Resources:

 SET-UP YOUR MASSBAY TECHNOLOGY

  • Search your personal email inbox for an email from our Office of Information Technology (IT), if you can’t find it, please check your spam/junk folders. The email will have your credentials (username and initial password) and instructions for activating your account in OneLogin. 
  • Follow these instructions to set up this account: Setting up One Login Presentation 
  • Or visit the Virtual Q&A Center for help walking you through the tech set-up.
  • Log into Bay Navigator! Bay Navigator is how you will register for classes, pay your bill or set-up the payment plan, and view your anticipated financial aid. 
  • Open your MassBay Email! All students have a Microsoft Outlook email account connected to their MassBay accounts (your email address will be username@massbay.edu). Email is our PRIMARY form of communication, you will receive important messages from your faculty, information about classes, upcoming events, financial resources and more!   • Log into BlackBoard!  BlackBoard is how you will access all your Online Classes.  Many of our remote and in-person classes will use it as well!

 ADVISING & CLASS REGISTRATION

During the first week of the semester, our Academic and Transfer Advising Team will meet with you to select your classes! You can continue to make adjustments to your schedule by adding new classes to your schedule and/or dropping classes during our Add/Drop Period. This is a good time to review the syllabi for each course and make sure that your course load is manageable. This is also a good time to review if the learning modality is right for you - would this course be better for you if it were online entirely, remote entirely, or perhaps, in-person?

While we recommend that you take this time to make sure your schedule the right fit for you, we also recommend that you’re mindful about when you make these changes. It’s always best to make these early in the add/drop period, so you aren’t joining any classes too late into the semester. If you are unsure of how to handle this add/drop period, speak to an advisor in the Virtual Advising Center. 

  • Last day to add and drop Day & Online Classes is September 12 
  • Last day to add and drop Evening Classes is September 16

If you haven’t done so already, register for classes by visiting our Advising Center! 

How to Access Drop-in Advising: We provide daily scheduled drop-in hours on the Wellesley Hills Campus in the Academic Advising, Transfer, and Coaching Commons  (Room 111) from 9am-5pm. We also provide daily drop-in hours on our Zoom Virtual Advising Center (VAC).

To Drop-In Virtually: Click on the green button on this page: https://www.massbay.edu/academics/advising  during our hours of operation (you must be logged into the center 30 minutes before closing). You will first enter a waiting room, and then when the next available advisor is available you will join their breakout room to connect. As we strive to meet the needs of all of our students during this time, please prepare that there may be a short wait time associated with your visit. Please have your MassBay student ID number ready.

Find Your Class & Get Your Textbooks

How to find your remote class:
Classes can be face-to-face, online or remote.  There are three possible ways to find your fall 2022 remote course link to join your virtual class at the scheduled time: 

  1. Check your MassBay e-mail account. Your faculty member(s) may have e-mailed you your course link directly. 
  2. Log into your Blackboard account and view your classes. Many faculty will list the link to the virtual class on the announcements page.  Faculty may activate your class between today and the first day of class. 
  3. Check your fall 2022 course schedule in Bay Navigator. Classes & Enrollment Tile  My Class Schedule

The Fall 2022 schedule may contain a link to access your remote course(s).  Please note that not all courses will have this link.

Textbooks & Course Materials
