Free Cybersecurity Workshop for High School Students

Wednesday, June 28, 2023

WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (June 26, 2023)MassBay Community College will offer high school sophomores, juniors, and senior students the opportunity to participate in a free one-day cybersecurity workshop on either Tuesday, June 27, 2023, or Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 10am – 1pm on the Wellesley Hills campus. The workshop will cover general cybersecurity principles, an engaging hands-on lab activity, and guidance from experienced cybersecurity professionals. The hands-on cybersecurity lab activity will solve puzzles of identifying and fixing cyber-attacks. These real-world scenarios are created specifically for the students and are not real cyber risks found on the internet.

With the ever-increasing cybersecurity threats and risks to organizations’ information and data, the need for employees who can identify, prevent, mitigate, and address the threats to their networks is at an all-time high. MassBay has responded to the growing regional and national need for well-trained cybersecurity professionals by creating a Center for Cybersecurity Education. The Center is built around MassBay’s cybersecurity programs (certificates and associate degree programs) which align with the national frameworks and educational guidelines. Currently, MassBay is the only associate degree in cybersecurity program in Massachusetts.

High school students interested in participating in this free hands-on activity, learning more about the cybersecurity field, and the equipment, labs, and programs at MassBay can register here: These workshops are being held by MassBay’s faculty in the College’s Center for Cybersecurity Education.
