English and mathematics are an important part of the foundational work at MassBay Community College. Before registering for classes, students must meet placement requirements for English and math. There are several ways to meet these requirements, and you only need one option that applies to you.
Below is a complete overview of how placement can be satisfied and what each option allows you to enroll in.

Important Note About College‑Level Math Using High School GPA
Some math courses require a lower‑level college math course as a prerequisite.
If you are using the high school GPA math waiver, you may place into the pre-requisite course, not directly into the higher‑level course.
Example:
If you want to take MA 200 Calculus, the high school GPA waiver allows placement into MA 104 Pre‑Calculus, which is the prerequisite for MA 200. It does not allow direct placement into MA 200.
