Just taking a class

If you just want to take a class or two for credit you do not need to submit an admissions application: You may study as a “guest” student. Guest students enjoy all the same resources as all MassBay students with two exceptions: You are not eligible for financial aid or for varsity athletics.

A few notes for you

Classes that do not list a location are offered online. MassBay’s online classes are asynchronous, which means that they do not have a set meeting day or time. Fully online courses differ from classroom-based courses in that students are not required to be present at a specific time or location during the week. Thus, they have flexibility to complete their weekly coursework based on their availability each week using a variety of technologies.

You must satisfy our Placement Requirements before registering for a math or English class. For further information pertaining to guest students, please visit our Register for Classes page under the drop-down bar for Placement Requirements for English and Math.

Review our Tuition and Fees and payment information. Financial aid is not available for guest students, even if you receive federal aid at another college. You may be able to set up a payment plan with the Student Accounts Office.

For accepted students that would like assistance choosing a class, please visit an Academic Advisor.

Once you are registered for class you will receive an email from registrar@massbay.edu with instructions on paying your bill and one from helpdesk@massbay.edu with your MassBay login credentials.
