About The Institute for Trauma, Adversity, and Resilience

We’re here to promote understanding of how trauma and adversity affect learning, well-being, and academic resilience. We believe that a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach can help everyone thrive, both in college and in the workplace by supporting healthy development, learning, and success.

Our Goals

  1. Conduct and share research about trauma-informed education, with a special focus on community colleges.

  2. Serve as a resource hub for students, faculty, and staff seeking to understand and apply trauma-informed practices.

  3. Build a digital community with access to literature, research, events, lectures, continuing education, and networking opportunities about trauma, learning, resilience, and success in higher education.
