Two Generations, One Digital World: Protecting Teens, Families, and Adults from Online Threats. Teens, adults, and families may use the internet differently, but they face many of the same dangers. From social media and gaming platforms to messaging apps and online dating sites, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, sextortion, social media impersonation, AI-generated explicit images, and online harassment are impacting different generations.
In this presentation, we will explore real-world examples involving teens targeted through fake Instagram accounts, group chat bullying, sextortion schemes demanding money after private images were shared, and AI tools used to create fabricated explicit photos of students. We will also examine cases involving adults, including romance scams that escalated into blackmail, fake profiles impersonating widowed veterans, scammers posing as grandchildren in distress, and persistent harassment through repeated unwanted contact.
