On December 27, 2020, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) was signed into law. This new law supplements the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), and permits the U.S. Department of Education to distribute additional funds to institutions of higher education in order to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), also called CARES 2 at MassBay Community College. A portion of the funds disbursed shall be used for making emergency assistance grants directly to students. As required by Federal law, priority for awarding emergency grants will be given to students with exceptional financial need, such as students who receive Pell Grants.
