This interdisciplinary program prepares students to facilitate positive change in their communities through civic engagement, advocacy, and organizational leadership.

Students will gain knowledge about the workings of their government while developing skills in the areas of communication, legal analysis, and decision making through structured systems. They will also complete an internship that connects classroom learning with real-world experience in nonprofit, public service, and community development settings.
This certificate equips graduates with the skills needed for entry-level positions in community organizing, nonprofit leadership, or public service. It also prepares students for advanced coursework in related higher-education degree programs and can serve to complement previous earned degrees. Upon successful completion, a certificate in Community Organizing and Leadership will be awarded.
