COLLEGE CHEMISTRY I w/LAB

College Chemistry I is the first semester of a two-semester college course on the facts and principles of chemistry at the introductory level, (no previous background in Chemistry is assumed). The course has a mandatory lab that complements the lecture. This course is designed to meet the needs of non-STEM major programs. Typical majors taking this course include liberal arts and nursing. Topics include lab safety; metric
system and density; scientific method; classification of matter; basic atomic structure; nuclear chemistry; nomenclature; chemical equations; patterns of chemical reactions; mole concept; compound stoichiometry; acids, bases and salts; gas laws; solutions; concentration units; pH scale. Basic math skills, including introductory algebra, are suggested for success in this course.
