MassBay Hosts FOX25 College Tour

On October 17th, 2013 FOX-TV was on the MassBay Wellesley Hills campus broadcasting their 2013 College Tour. It was an exciting day at MassBay – featuring our talented students, faculty and staff.

Below are photos and links to the FOX25 videos of each segment from the visit. A special thank you to everyone who participated and attended – to FOX25 for making this possible, their wonderful team and to their sponsors: Dunkin Donuts, Teddie Peanut Butter, Tedeschi Food Shops, Screeemfest at Canopie Lake Park, and the Toyota Corolla 2014.

The visit started with a visit from FOX to our Ashland and Framingham campuses. They shot footage that was used for a video that aired at 7:20 am this morning, featuring our automotive technology and surgical technology programs, along with one of our inspirational student-veterans, Don Shepard.

The morning kicked off bright and early at 6:00 am with a performance by the MassBay Cheerleaders. Go Bucs!

At 6:45 am, Associate VP for Marketing Jeremy Solomon gave an overview of the College in an interview with host Doug “VB” Goudie.

At 7:00 am, MassBay students Edwin Cruz-Vargas and Edna Barreto dazzled the audience with their authentic Colombian dancing.

At 7:45 am, we did a check presentation totaling $10,000. The donation will fund two scholarships for students enrolled in MassBay’s Cyber Security Certificate program, which was launched this semester.

Next up at 8:00 am was a skills presentation by members of the MassBay soccer. They did a terrific job showcasing their skills!

At 8:45 am, VB spoke with student Michelle Sheppard, who discussed her decision to enroll in MassBay’s Early Childhood Education program after several years in the workforce.

At 9:00 am, student Roudnie Celestin regaled the audience with her beautiful singing voice.

At 9:15 am, students Maria Del Mar Monculleano and Hannah Riggs joined Professor Susanne Steiger-Escobar in a presentation of Artbotics, a demonstration of computer programming.

MassBay Chef Jeff Silva presented a peanut butter banana chocolate cake, as part of the “Snack Attack” segment which features FOX sponsor Teddie peanut butter. It was a big hit!

Next up was a segment with members of the Student Government Association (SGA): Jonathon Mande, Alva Cedeno, Erika Benitez, and Nikki Webbe shared their thoughts on the government shut-down in a spooky sort of way, described the meaning of their tattoos, and even displayed some beat-box talent. You don’t want to skip this video!!

The final segment featured Associate Provost Dr. Lynn Hunter, along with students Geoffrey Macgillivary and Tyler Jowaisas, who spoke eloquently about our online and hybrid offerings at MassBay.

The day ended with a MassBay Journalism I class joining FOX25 Hosts Lilly Hopkins and Doug "VB" Goudie to wrap things up. MassBay is grateful to FOX25 and all the wonderful sponsors who helped make the October 17th FOX25 College Tour to our campus possible!
