NEW! 6-Week Summer Courses for High School Students

These courses run in MassBay Summer Session III (6-week session): July 6-August 14, 2020

Keep up your skills and get a jumpstart on college this summer with these classes offered exclusively for high school students (rising 9th graders through the Class of 2020).  Taught by instructors experienced with teaching high school students, these 6-week classes are an opportunity for you to stay engaged in your studies for an affordable price, while earning college credits and possibly finding a career path that interests you.

MG210-004 Entrepreneurship This course prepares students to develop business ideas and plans to start, develop, finance, market, manage and launch a new business. This course gives students the skills and knowledge they need to master the requirements of all the stages of launching a new business and the opportunity to build and implement a new business. Mondays & Wednesdays, remote sessions 10am – 12:45pm. 3 credits, transfers as an elective course. Cost: $654 in-state, $1272 out-of-state.

MG101-701 Principles of Management This course integrates traditional and behavioral approaches to management. Students will explore managerial functions of planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling, as well as applications of decision-making, leadership, communication, coordination, delegation, and authority-responsibility relationships. Fully online using the Blackboard platform, with no set meeting date or time (this is asynchronous learning). 3 credits, transfers as an elective course. Cost: $654 in-state, $1272 out-of-state.

EN195-504 Creative Writing This course gives students the opportunity to analyze and experiment in a number of creative writing genres, which may include creative non-fiction, fiction, poetry, and drama, among others. The class with read and discuss the work of various writers and will participate in exercise designed to generate and craft original material. Fully online using the Blackboard platform, with no set meeting date or time (this is asynchronous learning). 3 credits, transfers as an elective course. Cost: $654 in-state, $1272 out-of-state.

SO221-504 Drugs and Society This course examines the history of drugs in American culture. Topics may include the social, economic, legal, medical, and issues concerning drug use and abuse; the causes of drug use and abuse, the impact of drugs on the individual, and society. Tuesday & Thursdays, remote sessions 9am – 1:30pm. 3 credits, transfers as a Behavioral/Social Science General Education Foundation course. Cost: $654 in-state, $1272 out-of-state.

CS106-504 or CS106-700 Security Awareness This computer science course provides basic survey of data, computer, internet, and wireless security. The security principles: confidentiality, integrity, and availability, are introduced to students as well as threats and attacks that undermine these principles. 2 credits, transfers as an elective course. CS106-504Tuesdays & Thursdays, remote sessions 4pm – 6:15pm. CS106-700:  Fully online using the Blackboard platform with no set meeting date or time. Cost (either format): Free for first 34 students to register, otherwise $436 in-state, $848 out-of-state.
