Friday, November 15, 2019

Liz Cooper, Deni Budd, and Wendy Walsh WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (November 15, 2019) — MassBay Community College was recently recognized by regional members of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) for its outstanding work in marketing and communications to promote and advance the College.&

MassBay received four Medallions of Excellence: Gold for Logo Design, Silver for Communication Success Story, Silver for Printed Card, and Bronze for Website categories. The winners were selected from hundreds of entries submitted in 38 categories and announced at NCMPR's District 1 Conference in Providence, RI last week. All the work was produced in-house by the College's Office of Marketing and Communications.

“The distribution of these awards highlight the many strengths of the Marketing and Communications staff at MassBay,” said MassBay Interim Director of Marketing and Institutional Communications, Stephen Dill. “I am honored to be working with such talented colleagues, a feeling I share with everyone at MassBay. We are all fortunate to be engaged in the good work of helping others along their educational path, but even more so to be doing it with the support of these creative and resourceful professionals.”

MassBay won a Gold Medallion for its revamped athletic logo of the Buccaneer, which was updated to incorporate the College's official colors, fonts, and overall style to match the College's institutional brand. The logo is currently used to promote the College’s athletic program and is on all new team apparel.

For its earned media coverage of MassBay graduate, James Casey, who was accepted to Harvard University after earning his associate degree, MassBay was awarded the Silver Medallion for Communication Success Story. His story was featured in regional and national news outlets, including The Boston Globe, the MetroWest Daily News, CBS Boston, NBC Boston, Boston25 News, and MSN.com.

The College took home the Bronze in the Printed Card category for its “Think MassBay” annual appeal donor card. This end-of-the-year annual appeal card was a beautiful and memorable piece of artwork featuring a compelling student headshot on the cover, overlaid with additional photos of students in the classroom and lab settings, representing components of MassBay.

Finally, MassBay was awarded the Bronze Medallion for Website Design for its updated MassBay.edu website. The new website is a significant upgrade from the previous website with a new look as well as usability features including mobile-friendly technology, better on-site searching functions, a live-feed directory of faculty and staff, responsive video headers, and an easy-to-use platform.

Medallions are awarded at the district conferences and honor outstanding achievement in design and communications for marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges. NCMPR is the only organization of its kind that exclusively represents marketing and public relations professionals at community and technical colleges, while providing professional development opportunities and recognizing professional excellence.
