MassBay Community College Welcomes New Trustee

Ilissa K. Povich WELLESLEY HILLS, Mass. (April 5, 2022)Ilissa K. Povich of Wellesley, MA has been appointed by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker to serve as a member of the MassBay Community College Board of Trustees. She will attend her first Board meeting on April 12.

A lawyer, Povich is an Investigator in the Harvard University Office for Dispute Resolution where she investigates primarily cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, and prepares and presents training on Title IX and related topics to students, faculty, and staff.

Prior to her role at Harvard, Povich has been a writer and writing coach, vice president and general counsel of a technology company, and a corporate attorney at a prominent law firm in Boston. She has served in many roles in her local community including chair of both the Wellesley School Committee and Human Resources Board, and a Town Meeting member; President of the Wellesley Club; Campaign Manager for numerous Town of Wellesley override and debt exclusion campaigns; PTO president for two elementary schools, Wellesley Middle School, and Wellesley High School; and a Board member for the Wellesley Scholarship Foundation, the Wellesley Education Foundation, and Wellesley A Better Chance. Her husband, Lon Povich, was a MassBay Trustee from 2014-2015. Ilissa Povich earned her J.D. from Harvard University, and her bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Duke University.
