2020 Boston Marathon Team
The MassBay Foundation has selected three members from the community to run in the 2020 Boston Marathon. MassBay Students Hannah Careway and Thomas Regan, and Sue Maggioni, Dean of Business and Professional Studies, (above), will be running for the Student Hunger Assistance Fund at MassBay. The Student Hunger Assistance Fund was established in response to the increasing awareness of food insecurity among our students and helps to support the Meal Scholarship Program, which provides meal cards to students to use while on campus.
Sue Maggioni, Dean of Business and Professional Studies and Wellesley resident, will be running once again for the Boston Marathon General Scholarship Fund, which she established in 2017. Scholarships aid in making education more accessible to students who otherwise might not have the opportunity.
Each runner has committed to raising $5,000 to support their cause. We are very excited for our Marathon team and so grateful for their commitment to MassBay!
Thank you to the Town of Wellesley and the Rotary Club of Wellesley for providing the MassBay Foundation with charity bibs for the 2020 Boston Marathon.
Who are the Runners?
Thomas Regan, MassBay Student
Tomas Regan is a Biotech major in his second year at MassBay. He is very excited to be running his first marathon! Born in Boston, and currently living in Brighton, running the Marathon has always been on his bucket list. When the MassBay Foundation was offering charity bibs, he jumped at the opportunity!
Hannah Careway, MassBay Student
Hannah began running a few years ago starting with some 5ks and 10ks with her friends. She was looking for more of a challenge and last year completed two half marathons. She is extremely excited to be given the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon and can't wait to knock it off her bucket list. Hannah is in her last semester of nursing school at MassBay and will be graduating in May. She is looking forward to completing these two major goals for 2020!
Sue Maggioni, Dean of Business
Sue is the College’s Dean of Business and Professional Studies and is dedicated to the success of the students at MassBay. This will be her third time participating in the Boston Marathon! Sue ran the Marathon for MassBay in 2017 and raised over $9,000 to seed the Boston Marathon General Scholarship fund.
