Community Service

Become a Buccaneer Volunteer!

Community Service is an opportunity for students, staff and alumni to engage in local community-based projects. Opportunities are available to help foster an individual’s understanding and appreciation of the challenges members of our communities encounter on a daily basis. It is the hope that individuals will return from any volunteer experience with a deeper understanding of volunteerism, community service, activism and a great appreciation for diverse populations.

ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK

For the 2017 Spring Break, MassBay will offer the following Alternative Spring Break volunteer opportunities:

Tuesday, March 14

Greater Boston Food Bank

Volunteers at the Greater Boston Food Bank play a critical role in helping to end hunger within the greater Boston. Volunteers will work in the warehouse, inspecting, sorting, and repacking donated food and grocery products. The volunteer shift is from 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. Transportation from MassBay Community College will leave the Wellesley Hills campus at 8:00 am.

Wednesday, March 15/Thursday, March 16

Habitat For Humanity

Volunteers will work hands-on to build a home for a very worthy family. Volunteers will do everything from framing and raising walls, to hanging drywall, to painting. There is no construction experience necessary. Just a willingness to learn and enthusiasm to put in a day’s work. The volunteer shift is from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Transportation from MassBay Community College will leave the Wellesley Hills Campus at 7:00 am.
