Commencement Information

Commencement Exercises — Wellesley Hills Campus
Thursday, May 18th

Be sure to arrive on time!
All graduates should arrive by 4:30 p.m. in the Wellesley Hills auditorium for line up. The Commencement Procession begins promptly at 6:00pm.

Student Accounts
Students with outstanding financial obligations with the College should address this issue as soon as possible as this may impact your eligibility to participate in Commencement. Students should contact the Office of Student Accounts for additional information at (781) 239-2540. Students with additional obligations such as overdue library books or athletic equipment are encouraged to contact the appropriate offices.

Diplomas
Actual diplomas will not be given out at Commencement. They will be mailed to the graduates’ addresses.

Dress Code/Academic Regalia
Commencement is a formal academic ceremony and should be viewed as such in terms of dress and demeanor. The recommended dress for graduates is comfortable business attire. Please consider that shoes and visible items of clothing worn under academic robes should be dark, and consistent with the academic regalia. Please do not wear sneakers, beach sandals, or shorts.


Dates to Remember

Tickets, Invitations, Cap & Gown Voucher — Student Development
Wednesday, April 24th

Commencement invitations and tickets will be available for pick-up beginning Wednesday, April 24th in Student Development in Wellesley Hills (rm 130) and in Framingham (rm 316). Each graduate will receive up to three (3) Commencement tickets. Each guest must present a ticket to be admitted to the Commencement exercises.

Caps and Gowns — The MassBay Bookstore
Wednesday, April 24th

Caps and Gowns will be available for pick-up beginning Wednesday, April 24th at the MassBay Bookstore on both the Wellesley Hills and Framingham Campuses. Students should first pick-up their Cap and Gown voucher from Student Development. The Bookstore will have extended hours for Cap and Gown pick up. For detailed hours, you can contact the Bookstore for each campus by phone or by visiting their website. Veterans
MassBay recognizes our student veterans and military at the Commencement ceremony. If you are a veteran, reservist or active member of the military and plan to attend Commencement, please contact Marie Hahs at: mhahs@massbay.edu to obtain a red, white and blue regalia cord.

Disability Resources
Students in need of disability related accommodations should contact the Office of Disability Resources at (781) 239–2626 beginning Monday, April 24th. Inquiries should be made no later than Monday, May 8th.

For Your Guests

Guest Seating
Guests are welcome to begin arriving at 4:30 p.m. Seating will be under a tent and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Commencement Exercises will begin at 6:00 p.m.


Do you have a guest(s) coming to Commencement who may require special seating accommodations?

We would like to provide that person and one companion access to our reserved seating area. Help us to make your guest(s) more comfortable by filling out the form below.

Please return the completed form to Student Development (Wellesley Hills Campus-Room 130 or Framingham Campus-Room 100 by Friday, May 12, 2017) or send via e-mail to kgraska@massbay.edu. We will make every effort to accommodate your guest and their companion.

We encourage your guest(s) to arrive early and to check-in with an usher.


Pictures and Video Equipment
A professional photographer will be on hand to take each graduate’s photo; these photos will be available for purchase after the event. Check the MassBay website for more information. In addition, a dedicated setting will be provided for the graduates and their families to take personal photos after the ceremony.

*Please be advised, MassBay Community College will be photographing our graduates before, during and after the Commencement exercises. We reserve the right to use these images in our marketing campaigns.


Transportation

Parking
Commencement parking is allowed only in the Student Parking Lot on Oakland Street.

PLEASE NOTE: Parking spaces are limited as we accommodate families and guests. We strongly recommend that graduates and guests carpool when possible or use public transportation.

Shuttle
To accommodate graduates and their families, a shuttle service will run from the Riverside MBTA station to MassBay. The approximate seven minute shuttle ride will drop off and pick up near the College’s main entrance, a short distance from the event.
