Notice from the MassBay Office of Public Safety
Like many colleges and universities in Massachusetts, the MassBay Office of Public Safety is implementing upgrades to the level of security at this year’s Commencement Exercises. The College is enhancing our security measures to ensure our entire college community remains safe as we enjoy another uplifting Commencement ceremony on our campus. Among the changes this year:
- Backpacks, wrapped gifts of any kind, and large bags or containers are not allowed into the Commencement area. Please leave those items in your vehicle.
- Smaller purses and bags will be inspected when entering the Commencement area.
- Guests, graduates, faculty and staff are asked to submit to a bag inspection. Anyone who refuses to have their bags inspected will not be allowed into Commencement.
- Consistent with College policy, weapons, knives, and any illegal substances will not be permitted.
- Unattended property discovered during the ceremony may be inspected or removed. Recovered property can be retrieved in the Office of Public Safety at the conclusion of the ceremony.
We ask that you leave extra time this year to gain entry into the Commencement area, and to share these security measures with your guests.
We truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together to make our campus a safe and secure venue to celebrate the achievements of our remarkable graduates.
