What is the cost to attend MassBay?
- Cost per credit: Massachusetts Resident $174; Non-resident $380.00
- Additional Fees may apply. Please view Student Accounts for a complete listing.
- Administrative fee for all students enrolled in credit courses (per semester): $40. The administrative fee is a mandatory fee for students enrolling in credit courses. It supports facility improvements, parking, and transportation services at MassBay.
- MassPirg (waivable fee): $9 (not applicable for summer sessions)
- Mandatory Health Insurance (waivable): $1,640 Fall 2014
- Student Textbook Fund (waivable fee): $5 (not applicable for summer sessions).
The Student Government Association and the MassBay Foundation have established this fund to help students defray the increasing costs of educational items such as textbooks and other materials.
This fee will be applied to both full and part-time student bills. For

- Late Registration Fee: $50. The late registration fee will be assessed for any student who registers for the first time on or after the first day of each term.
All fees, tuition are subject to change without notice. The College cannot honor any typographical errors in prices. Non-credit courses are priced separately. Tuition and Fees that remain unpaid are subject to Enrollment Cancellation, Collections and/or Interception of
State funds to resolve the financial obligation. A student may not attend a course if he/she is not officially registered and considered in good financial standing at the College.
Is there a payment plan for tuition and fees?
To help you meet your educational expenses, MassBay Community College has partnered with Nelnet Business Solutions (NBS, FACTS) as a convenient budget plan. This is not a loan program. You have no debt, there are no interest or finance charges assessed, and there is no credit check. The cost to budget your interest-free monthly payment plan is a $32 per semester non-refundable FACTS Enrollment Fee.
When are tuition and fees due?
For the fall semester tuition and fees would be due on August 1. If you register for your classes after August 1 your tuition and fees are due at the time of registration.
Spring semester registration begins in November with the tuition and fees due on December 15, if you register after December 15 your tuition and fees are due at the time of registration.
Tuition for non-credit courses is due at the time of registration.
How can I purchase my books with my financial aid?
MassBay provides financial aid recipients the opportunity to participate in a book voucher program. This program is available to you if you have completed your financial aid application, received a MassBay Financial Aid Award, and have sufficient aid after tuition and fee charges are subtracted.
Students whose aid package includes a student loan must have completed loan entrance counseling and have a signed Master Promissory Note in order to be eligible for a book voucher. If you haven't completed these steps, contact the MassBay Financial Aid Office to complete your loan process.
Certain funding such as tuition waivers, cash grants and access grants can only be used for tuition and specific fee charges and may not be used for book vouchers.
Do I get a refund if I choose to withdraw from a class?
Students who voluntarily withdraw from course(s) or the College completely may
be granted a refund or reduction of tuition and fees in accordance with the refund policy. Lack of attendance, course abandonment, etc. does not constitute official course withdrawal. Students who do not withdraw in accordance with the College procedures are subject to full payment of tuition and fees. Refunds are made only according to the Withdrawal and Refund Policy, which can be viewed on the Student Accounts page.
Why was I charged for health insurance?
Student Health Insurance is mandatory. Massachusetts State Law requires health insurance for all students carrying nine (9) or more credit hours. Students registered in our Health Science programs are required to have health insurance regardless to the number of credits register. Health Insurance charge may be waived if the student provides electronic documentation that he/she is covered by a comparable policy. Click here for directions for waiving the health insurance fee.
How do I waive my health insurance charge?
Health Insurance charges may be waived if the student provides an electronic waiver that he/she is covered by a comparable policy. Waivers may be completed in the self-service section of Bay Navigator under the finance tab.
