Strategic Plan

Strategic Planning is on its Way!

On January 19, 2012 MassBay Community College kicked off its strategic planning process with nearly 200 faculty and staff participating in outlining a new mission, vision, values statement, and identifying key strategic directions for the College. Bentley University Trustee Professor of Economics & Management, Dr. Patricia M. Flynn, opened the day with a presentation entitled “The MA Innovation Economy: No Time for Complacency.” The data presented highlighted the context in which MassBay is imagining its future.

Following the presentation, President John O’Donnell invited the MassBay community to envision our path to academic excellence and service to the citizens, business, and communities of the greater Metro West region. Over 30 faculty and staff served as facilitators, recorders, and liaisons throughout the all-day sessions. The community reviewed data on the College’s performance across multiple indicators over the last 10 years and in the context of our peers’ performance. Professional Day concluded with energizing summaries of each group’s discussion and with faculty and staff embracing a new vision for MassBay.
To accommodate those unable to join us on January 19, an alternative session was held for members of the community. In addition to these, additional strategic planning sessions will be conducted with other internal and external stakeholders. Students at each of our campuses will have opportunities to contribute their perspectives to the strategic planning process through four sessions being planned during the day and evening to accommodate all student groups. Moreover, sessions are being planned with the Foundation Board of Trustees, the College’s Board of Trustees, the Alumni Council and other alumni, community leaders in our service area, including industry, K-12, and higher education partners.
