    (WELLESLEY HILLS, MA -- December 12, 2012) --  Dr. Jackson has long been a standout of MassBay’s accomplished Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) academic division.  Through his visionary Forensic DNA Science program, the only associate degree of its kind in the world, Dr. Jackson has reached unparalleled success.  Due in large part to his leadership, MassBay has produced 17 Barry M. Goldwater Scholars, the most prestigious undergraduate honor in math, science and engineering.  No other community college in America has produced more than two.  He has also been honored as a Fulbright Scholar in Residence, a highly prestigious and competitive award which has allowed him to replicate his Forensic DNA program at the Catholic University of Portugal.

Peisch has been unanimously voted by his peers as Vice-Chair of the MassBay Community College Board of Trustees today.  “Tom Peisch is a dedicated public servant and a distinguished leader,” said Board Chair Pamela Richardson.  “I am confident he will bring the wisdom and skill set to the position of Vice-Chair that will enable the Board to advance the aspirational goals of the College.”

    (WELLESLEY HILLS - October 31, 2012) –   The College is closed for Veterans Day on Monday November 12th. President John O’Donnell will be joined by members of the Wellesley Fire and Police Departments; Paul Carew, the Veterans Services Officer for the Town of Natick; MassBay students, faculty and staff Veterans; and the general public.  The event will be emceed by Adjunct Faculty Professor Gary Donato, who also advises the MassBay Veterans Club. The event begins at 10:30 am in the cafeteria on the Wellesley Hills campus, 50 Oakland Street.

    October 2012 - MassBay Community College to Host Jothy Rosenberg to Kick Off Innovation & Leadership Speaker Series

    (WELLESLEY HILLS - October 19, 2012) – At age 16 Jothy Rosenberg lost his leg to cancer and at age 19 he was told he had no chance of surviving.  Leveraging a strong will, a passion for extreme sports, and internal fortitude, Mr. Rosenberg earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Duke University, authored several books, and started eight technology companies.  He has completed the Boston to New York AIDS bicycle ride (375 miles), and has ridden the Massachusetts Pan-Mass Challenge (192 miles) eight times.  He has also finished the San Francisco – Alcatraz swim 17 times.

    (WELLESLEY HILLS - October 17, 2011) - Ten years ago MassBay Community College began a program, the OneBook project, designed to engage students, faculty, staff and the general public around a common text and to holding activities and discussions around that text.  Since then, other colleges in the region have used MassBay’s program as a model and have brought the OneBook concept to their campuses.

    At an event at the Massachusetts State House today, the Department of Higher Education (DHE) released a new report on the changing role of public higher education in Massachusetts. The first annual Vision Project report, entitled, Time to Lead: The Need for Excellence in Higher Education provides an in-depth evaluation of where the Massachusetts public higher education system stands on such important metrics as completion rates, student success, and workforce development.

  • June 2012 - MassBay Community College Receives $347,000 National Science Foundation Grant

    (Wellesley Hills, MA) - Massachusetts Bay Community College (MassBay) was notified by the National Science Foundation that it earned a $347,050 grant for student scholarships yesterday.  Scholarships will be awarded by MassBay to students pursuing their associate degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM), who are legal US citizens or residents, and who demonstrate academic potential and financial need.

  • April 2012 - General Motors Company and R.C. Olsen Cadillac Donate Cadillac For Massbay’s Gm Automotive Program

    General Motors Company donated a 2011 CTS fully loaded Cadillac to MassBay Community College for the school’s GM Automotive Service Educational Program. After the car was damaged during transit, R.C. Olsen Cadillac donated the repairs.


  • April 2012 - MassBay Student Earns Prestigious Science Award

    Community College in company of renowned schools such as MIT, Harvard (Wellesley Hills, MA, April 2, 2012) – MassBay Community College Biotechnology student and decorated Marine Corps veteran Corporal Kenny A. Moreno of Hyde Park, Mass., has won a prestigious 2012 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship in Science and Engineering, taking his place alongside students from world-renowned four-year colleges. The award is the nation's highest and most prestigious undergraduate science scholarship for which there is fierce national competition.
