Jeanie Tietjen has been teaching at MassBay since 2009. Affirming the critical importance of solid writing skills to any academic and career goal, she works with students in the foundational college writing courses English 101 and 102. Whether students aspire to transfer to a four-year college or sharpen writing skills for the workplace, she understands writing as a process of discovery.  Jeanie is also director of the Center for Trauma and Learning in Post-Secondary Education, which examines the impact of trauma on academic resilience.  Jeanie earned her BA from the University of Washington in Seattle; MFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; and is writing her doctoral dissertation for the Department of English at Brandeis University.  The topic of the dissertation is the representation of excremental violence in Holocaust literature.
