All nursing students are required to complete credit hours in the clinical setting under the supervision of a nursing professional. These clinical experiences support the mission of MassBay’s Associate Degree Nursing program, integrating practice and coursework, to provide a comprehensive nursing education.

Students will be assigned to complete their clinical hours in a variety of laboratory and clinical settings. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the various facilities utilized for the practice of nursing. Clinical placements occur in a variety of acute care, long term care, and rehabilitation facilities in the Metrowest and Boston area. Clinical times vary and are assigned based upon availability of a clinical site and program objectives.

Clinical education is integral in bringing the classroom knowledge to life and is key to equipping students with the experience they need for success in the program. It is an essential component in preparing students for their role as a practicing nursing professional. Clinical education provides the student an opportunity to put classroom information into practice, while also enabling student development of knowledge and skills best learned in the practice environment.

MassBay’s Associate Degree Nursing program is affiliated with hospitals, health care systems and community-based agencies, meaning:

  • You will have access to some leading clinical resources of MetroWest, providing you the setting for exceptional clinical preparation in nursing.
  • You will learn how to adapt quickly and how different systems operate while interacting with diverse patient populations and nursing and medical experts.
