Background
The Massachusetts Bay Community College Foundation Inc. is an independent, not-for-profit entity dedicated to assisting the College in meeting its current and future needs. Its purpose is to generate support and resources for the College beyond those provided by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Incorporated in 1984, the Foundation is committed to raising funds for academic programs, facility upgrades, equipment, student scholarships and professional development for employees. Private contributions ensure that the College is able to keep its promise and pledge of providing increasing academic excellence and expanding business and industry services.
The Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. All gifts are tax deductible as allowed by law.
Mission and Vision of the Foundation
Mission: The Foundation’s mission is to assist Massachusetts Bay Community College (MassBay) further develop educational excellence by securing new resources, maximizing return on existing resources, acting as ambassadors to the community and complementing and resourcing the work of the college’s trustees and staff in shaping MassBay’s future.
Vision: The Foundation will be lead by a committed, informed and involved board of directors, aligned with the needs of MassBay and the region it serves.
With this leadership it will:
- Define and meet its commitments to strategic initiatives;
- Help establish its donor base in order to sponsor various student scholarship programs and support the Endowment funds;
- Act as a catalyst for linking MassBay to senior colleges, community organizations and businesses;
- Support the college’s academic growth by providing for faculty initiatives; such as, development of instructional projects, travel that directly supports teaching and learning;
- Help advance the facilities, programs and opportunities in higher education available at MassBay; and
- Help increase alumni support and loyalty.
The continued growth of the MassBay Foundation is vital in supporting student scholarships, community services and open access to higher education, thereby ensuring MassBay’s reputation as one of the finest community colleges in Massachusetts.
