Commonwealth Transfer Compact (CTC)
WHAT IS IT?
- The CTC is an agreement with Massachusetts public colleges or universities that allows for minimal loss of transfer credit after earning your associate degree.
- It guarantees that at least 60 credits (excluding developmental classes) will transfer from MassBay Community College to these four-year institutions.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
- Associate degree with a minimum of 60 college-level course credits
- Earned GPA of 2.0 or higher at the time of graduation
- Having completed the following college-level courses in your program:

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
- If you meet the above requirements, you will have many of your college credits from MassBay accepted for transfer.
- Under the CTC, courses that usually do not transfer may do so, such as grades of “C-” or lower, as well as some technical classes.
- Completion of an associate degree in conjunction with the CTC will cover many of the general education requirements at the four-year institution.
- Please note this does not necessarily mean you will have satisfied all the college degree requirements of a specific school or major and some associate degree programs may not qualify under the CTC.
