Commonwealth Transfer Compact

Commonwealth Transfer Compact (CTC)

WHAT IS IT?

  • The CTC is an agreement with Massachusetts public colleges or universities that allows for minimal loss of transfer credit after earning your associate degree.
  • It guarantees that at least 60 credits (excluding developmental classes) will transfer from MassBay Community College to these four-year institutions.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

  • Associate degree with a minimum of 60 college-level course credits
  • Earned GPA of 2.0 or higher at the time of graduation
  • Having completed the following college-level courses in your program:

College Level Courses

MassBay Courses

Freshman English/Composition/Writing
(6 credits)

EN101 - 102

Behavioral & Social Sciences
(9 credits)

AN EC GG GV HS LA PS SO

Humanities & Fine Arts

AR CO FR HU LI PH PO SF SL SP

Natural & Physical Sciences
(8 credits)

BI CH EV PY SC

Mathematics
(3 credits)

100-level math or higher (not MAC100 or MAC 131)

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

  • If you meet the above requirements, you will have many of your college credits from MassBay accepted for transfer.
  • Under the CTC, courses that usually do not transfer may do so, such as grades of “C-” or lower, as well as some technical classes.
  • Completion of an associate degree in conjunction with the CTC will cover many of the general education requirements at the four-year institution.
  • Please note this does not necessarily mean you will have satisfied all the college degree requirements of a specific school or major and some associate degree programs may not qualify under the CTC.
