OneBook Project 2014

The OneBook Project is a college-wide initiative that invites students, faculty, staff and members of the outside community to read a common text and engage in activities and discussions around that text. The goal is to create an interdisciplinary learning community which explores issues relevant to the text and our community and which enhances student engagement.

The 2014 OneBook is Into The Beautiful North, by Luis Alberto Urrea

Thank you to all who cast their vote!

The 2014 OneBook Description:

Into the Beautiful North is a well-written, engaging story. It is fiction, an adventure, but deals with issues surrounding marginalized people, civil society, and community on multiple levels. It has unconventional heroes in which our students may see themselves

It was chosen by NYC for this year's "Big Read." Negotiations are under underway with regard to turning it into a movie. Luis Urrea formerly taught Humanities at MassBay. He is by all accounts "a lovely man," "gregarious," and "great with students," and would be a wonderful speaker to have here.
